Why choosing the right agency matters

Hiring a social media marketing agency in Pakistan is easy; hiring one that actually brings you enquiries is harder. The market ranges from students offering a few posts a month to large agencies built for national brands. Many business owners pay for months of posting and boosted posts and still cannot say how many customers came from it.

The good news is that a few simple checks separate serious agencies from the rest. This guide gives you the questions to ask, the red flags to watch for and a simple way to compare quotes, whether you are in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad or anywhere else in the country.

Step 1: Be clear about what you want social media to do

Before you speak to anyone, write down one main goal. Most Pakistani businesses want one of these: more WhatsApp or Messenger enquiries, more online orders, more walk-ins, more B2B leads, or a stronger brand before a launch. The goal decides the platforms and the mix of organic content and ads.

For example, a clinic or academy that sells through WhatsApp usually needs social media management plus Facebook and Instagram ads. A fashion brand needs Instagram, reels and possibly influencers. A software house selling abroad needs LinkedIn marketing. An agency that recommends the same package to every business is not listening.

Step 2: Ask these questions before you sign

Who owns the pages and ad accounts? You should. The agency should be added as a partner or admin through Meta Business Suite, TikTok Business Center or Google, never the other way round.

What exactly is included each month? Ask for numbers: how many posts, reels and stories, which platforms, whether comments and inbox replies are handled, and whether ad management is included.

Is ad spend separate? It should be paid directly to Meta, TikTok or Google from your own card or account, so you can see every rupee.

How will results be reported? Look for reports on enquiries, messages, leads, cost per lead and sales, not only likes and reach.

Who will actually do the work, and how do we communicate? You should be able to speak directly to the people running your account, ideally on WhatsApp.

What is the contract length and notice period? A three-month starting commitment is reasonable for social media; long lock-ins are not.

Step 3: Watch for these red flags

Guaranteed followers, likes or sales. No honest agency can guarantee outcomes that depend on platform algorithms and your offer.

Fake followers or engagement. Bought followers damage reach and credibility, and they never buy anything.

Ads running from the agency's own ad account. You lose your data, your pixel history and your control.

No written scope or price confirmation. Even a WhatsApp message listing deliverables and price is better than nothing.

Only boosting posts. The boost button is not a strategy. Proper campaigns use the right objective, tracking and audience testing.

No questions about your business. If an agency sends a price before understanding your customers, margins and goals, the plan will be generic.

Freelancer, in-house person or agency?

A freelancer can be good value for one clear task, such as monthly designs or reel editing. The risk is availability and having no backup when they are busy or leave.

An in-house hire knows your business closely, but one person rarely has strong skills in strategy, design, video, copywriting and ads at the same time.

An agency or small specialist team gives you all of those skills in one plan, with one person accountable for results. Many businesses also use a hybrid: an in-house person for daily replies and photos, and an agency for strategy, content and ads. Our content creation plan is designed for exactly that setup.

How to compare SMM quotes in Pakistan

Quotes are only comparable when the scope is the same. Put each quote in a simple table with these rows: platforms, posts per month, reels per month, stories, community and inbox management, ad platforms managed, reporting frequency, shoots, and contract terms. Then compare the price.

For reference, our own published starting prices are on the SMM packages and pricing page, and the guide to social media marketing cost in Pakistan explains what changes the price. Very cheap offers usually leave out strategy, reporting or ads; very expensive ones should include clearly more work, not just a bigger name.

Does the agency need to be in your city?

Most social media work is done remotely, with approvals on WhatsApp and monthly video calls. Location matters mainly for shoots and for understanding the local audience: the areas you deliver to, the languages your customers speak and local seasons and events.

We work with businesses across the country and have dedicated pages for Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar and Dubai and the UAE.

What a good first 90 days looks like

Month one: profile clean-up, brand kit, tracking (pixel, Conversions API, WhatsApp click events), first content calendar and first test campaigns.

Month two: more of the content and audiences that bring enquiries, less of what does not, and faster inbox replies.

Month three: a clear trend in messages, leads and cost per result, and a plan to scale what works. If you cannot see this by the end of month three, ask hard questions.

A simple checklist to take into every meeting

  • My pages and ad accounts stay in my name
  • The monthly scope is written down with numbers
  • Ad spend is paid by me directly to the platform
  • Reports show enquiries, leads and cost per lead
  • I can talk to the people doing the work
  • No fake followers, no guaranteed results
  • Reasonable notice period after the first months

Frequently asked questions

What should I ask a social media marketing agency in Pakistan before hiring?

Ask who will own your pages and ad accounts, what exactly is included each month (posts, reels, replies, ads), how results are reported, whether ad spend is separate, and what the notice period is.

Is a freelancer or an agency better for social media marketing?

A freelancer can work for a single, simple task such as designs. If you need strategy, content, community replies and ads together, an agency or small team is usually more reliable and accountable.

What are the red flags when hiring an SMM agency?

Promises of guaranteed followers or sales, selling fake likes, running ads from the agency's own ad account, no written scope, no monthly report and long lock-in contracts.

Should my social media agency be in my city?

Not necessarily. Most work happens on WhatsApp and video calls. What matters is that the team understands your local audience and can arrange shoots in your city when needed.

How long before I can judge an agency's performance?

Give a new agency around three months: the first month to fix profiles and tracking, the second to test, and the third to show a clear trend in enquiries and cost per lead.
